Y! Studios

Hi, my names Paul Kavanagh, I manage the Y Studios music recording studio/ performance centre at Northfield.

I have gained a hectic 14 years of experience within various aspects of the music industry included live sound, secondary school teaching, live performance and youth work. I have gained a hectic 10 years of experience within various aspects of the music industry included live sound with My Chemical Romance, Counting Crows and Larry Carlton and TV sound for shows such as Soccer Six and also taking on various recording, management and promotional projects for musicians and bands around the midlands area.

The YMCA has opened up a huge network of young musicians within the Midlands area that has allowed me and my team to have had the opportunity to work alongside. From this we have developed a wide range of pioneering music workshops and accreditations.

Working within the YMCA has presented me with a diverse range of day to day challenges but allowing me space to develop and apply newly learnt skills. I have found time here rewarding and always looking forward to what avenues that will open up in the future.
