Alan Fraser

Chief Executive

Alan has worked for housing and community organisations since 1992, but started off as a volunteer at a night shelter for the homeless in 1988 when he was student in Leeds. He has been Chief Executive of Birmingham YMCA since October 2005 and before that was Chief Executive of another YMCA in the West Midlands for nearly 4 years. There he learnt about running nurseries and community centres in addition to housing schemes.

He holds a Diploma in Professional Housing Studies from Birmingham City University and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. In addition, Alan holds a Diploma in Applied Theological Studies and is an ordained Self-Supporting Minister in the Church of England. These twin qualifications help him in his role as leader of a Christian charity which has to remain true to its Christian ethos, but also committed to the highest standards of professionalism and inclusivity.
